Chinese takeout is hard to beat, but what if you could make your favorite Chinese beef takeout dishes at home? Beef with broccoli and Hunan beef are both pretty simple to make as long as you have the right ingredients. Here’s how: Beef with Broccoli This deceivingly simple dish features thinly sliced beef in a rich brown sauce. Ingredients: 8 ounces beef sirloin, sliced thinly 1 teaspoon cornstarch 2 cups broccoli crowns 1/4 cup sliced onion 2 tablespoons corn oil 2 cloves of garlic, minced 1/4 cup soy sauce 1/2 cup oyster sauce 1/4 teaspoon fish sauce Directions: Toss the beef strips in the cornstarch, and set aside. Heat the oil in a large wok. Add the broccoli and onions, and stir fry for 2–3 minutes or until the broccoli turns a bright green. Add the beef to the pan, and continue sautéing until it is cooked through. Add the garlic, oyster sauce, soy sauce and fish sauce to the pan. Cook for 1 more minute, or until the sauce is bubbly and beginning to thicken slightly. Remove the dish from the heat, and serve over white rice. Enjoy! Hunan Beef This classic stir fried beef dish has plenty of spice but is not overwhelming. Ingredients: 8 ounces flank steak, sliced very thinly 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper 2 tablespoons mirin 3 red chili peppers, de-stemmed and crushed 1 red onion, sliced 1 red bell pepper, sliced 2 tablespoons peanut oil 1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch Directions: In a bowl, combine the garlic, ginger, pepper, soy sauce, chili peppers, cornstarch, mirin and steak. Stir well, and set aside to marinate for 2 hours. Remove the beef from the marinade, and set the marinade aside. Pour the peanut oil into a wok, and add the beef strips, a few at a time, cooking until seared. Remove the beef strips from the wok and set them aside. Place the onions and red pepper in the wok, and saute for 2–3 minutes, or until slightly tender. Return the beef to the wok, and then add the reserved marinade. Bring to a boil, and boil for 2 minutes or until reduced in volume by about half. Remove from heat, and serve over white rice. If you do not like your food very spicy, feel free to use just 1 or 2 chili peppers in this recipe. First, put your copper pot or pan in a sink and saturate it with salt. Pour white vinegar over the salt, and then add additional salt on top of the vinegar. Give it a minute, and use a sponge saturated with white vinegar to wipe the pot clean. For stubborn spots, add more salt and scrub vigorously until shiny and clean. A little lemon. Household guru Martha Stewart has her own idea of the best way to clean copper; it involves a couple things that you likely have in your pantry already. Cut a fresh lemon in half, and generously sprinkle each cut side with coarse kosher salt. Rub the lemon halves over the copper; the copper will shine and sparkle as if it were brand-new! Two Chinese food favorites are sweet and sour chicken and orange chicken. If you don’t have the time to go to a restaurant like Ginger Beef Restaurants Downtown Food Courts Kiosks, here are two fantastic recipes for these beloved dishes.   Sweet and Sour Chicken Chicken Ingredients: 4 large chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces 3 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 cup cornstarch Sauce Ingredients: 2/3 cup sugar 1/2 cup vinegar 1 T soy sauce 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/4 cup ketchup 1/4 cup chicken broth 1 T cornstarch 1/2 cup pineapple chunks 1/2 cup green pepper, cut in cubes 1/2 cup onion, cut in cubes  Directions: 1. Fill an electric skillet with oil until the oil is about an inch and a half deep. Turn it on so the oil is warming while you prepare the meat.  2. Put the beaten eggs in one bowl and the cornstarch on a plate. Dip the chicken pieces in the egg and then in the cornstarch. Once the oil is hot (splash a drop of water on it and if it sizzles it is ready), place the chicken pieces in the skillet. Allow them to cook for five or so minutes or until brown underneath. Flip and cook until the other side is brown, as well. 3. While the chicken is cooking, mix the sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, ketchup, and chicken broth. Whip the corn starch with a tablespoon of water until dissolved and add to the sauce. Stir until the sauce is thickened.  4. In another skillet, put in a dash of olive oil and the onion and green pepper. Cook for two or three minutes, or until the pepper is shiny. You still want them to be crisp.  5. Add the pineapple, pepper, and onion to the sauce. Serve over the crispy chicken and some rice.  Orange Chicken Ingredients:  4 chicken breasts, cut into one-inch slices 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp paprika 1 cup flour 1/2 cup oil 1 can cream of chicken soup  1 can milk 1 tsp ground ginger 6 oz thawed orange juice 1/2 tsp ground pepper 1/4 tsp nutmeg Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.  2. Place the chicken in a plastic zipper bag with the salt, pepper, paprika, and flour. Shake the bag until the chicken strips are coated.  3. Put the oil in a skillet. Once it is hot, add the chicken and brown the outside. It doesn’t have to be cooked through. 4. Lay the chicken strips in a 9 by 13 pan.  5. In a separate bowl, combine the chicken soup, milk, ginger, pepper, and orange juice. Stir it well and pour it on top of the chicken. Sprinkle the nutmeg on top. 6.
